In this video we take a look into a claim that there is a fish in the waters around Jamaica that turn itself into the same color that surrounds it and thus become invisible. #real or fake!
They call it a Piper Fish… And I first heard about it on the beach in front of my hotel.
A guy who wanted to sell me a snorkel trip said the fish could turn itself into the the Color of the water and virtually disappear.
I was like, is this fish for real? Or is he just trying to get me to sign up for the trip?
There was only one way to find out.
I booked the trip and soon found myself aboard s small glass bottom boat with the infamous Capt. Kirk.
According to Capt Kirk, the best way to get close to some Piper fish is to hang out with the fish they like to eat.

These little delicacies are known as Sergeant Major Fish and exist throughout the Caribbean. The adults grow up to 22 centimeters or about 9 inches. They are a very friendly fish and will eat bread right out of your hand. Look at this…
Kirk joined me in the water and everything was going well, until he suddenly saw something that scared him and he ordered us back in the boat immediately!
I didn’t see anything myself… so I had to just take his word for it. But uh... things were starting to get a little fishy!

Some of the places we visit in this video are also worth mentioning.
THE ROCK HOUSE HOTEL AND SPA
The rock house turns out to be a really cool hotel perched on top a rocky section of the shore. Not only did they have some awesome looking areas for Piper fish to hang out, but some really cool places for people too…
The coral heads at this place looked pretty healthy. Not only were there tons a colorful fish, but lots of small black sea urchins as well. These things can be very painful if you get stuck by one, so they are not very well liked. But they are ecologically important to the coral reefs because they like to eat algae that otherwise would take over the reef and smother it.
GOLDEN EYE HOTEL AND RESORT
This is hotel built around the house where the creator of James Bond used to live. His name was Ian Flemming and believe it or not, you can rent his old house as your hotel room for a mere $6000 per night. You can even sit at the desk where he wrote 12 James Bond novels.
Now, If you don’t have the money to rent the house, you can also stay in one smaller bungalows on the property. And If you do that, you’ll be able to go swimming in a pool shaped like a golden eye! How 007 is that?
