MORE ABOUT THE PREVIOUS VERSION OF THIS VIDEO
This video was originally called ELF ON THE SHELF and examined the whole elf on the shelf phenomena. Do they really spy for Santa and do they move around on their own? Many viewers wrote in asking for the truth about all this,
Research indicated that they don't spy for Santa nor do they move around on their own. In fact the whole tradition only started in 2005 with the release of a picture book by the same name.
When I delivered a "fake" verdict, many viewers became very upset. Some younger viewers were reported to be in tears and an avalanche of hate mail soon followed. Because I didn't believe in the "ELF ON THE SHELF, I also didn't believe in Santa or Christmas either.
Many reported I had killed their dreams and ruined their childhood. Not wanting to ruin any more lives I pulled the video down and turned my thoughts to what to do with the next planned video... "Santa Claus - Real or Fake"
MORE ABOUT THE POLAR EXPRESS
The Polar Express is a children's book written and illustrated by Chris Van Allsburg and published by Houghton Mifflin in 1985. The book is now widely considered to be a classic Christmas story for young children although the point has been challenged. It was praised for its detailed illustrations and calm, relaxing storyline. For the work Van Allsburg won the annual Caldecott Medal for illustration of an American children's picture book in 1986, his second.
The book is set partially in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the author's home town, which was inspired by the Herpolsheimer's and Wurzburg's department stores. It was adapted as an Oscar-nominated motion-capture film in 2004 starring Tom Hanks and directed by Robert Zemeckis with Van Allsburg serving as an executive producer on the film.
