Iran has been hit by the worst floods in 100 years. They've hit two-thirds of the country and led to at least 70 deaths, and the situation is expected to worsen. Two dozen of Iran's 31 provinces have been affected. Golestan province in the north bore the initial brunt of the flooding, which spread to Lorestan, Fars and Khuzestan in the south-west. Khuzestan has three major rivers that flow though it and the continued threat of flooding has led authorities to order the evacuation of six cities along the Karkheh river. According to the Iranian Red Crescent, Washington's sanctions on Tehran have blocked any foreign financial aid from entering the country.
