It was meant to be a temporary home for those fleeing conflict and insecurity, now the three-decade-old Dadaab refugee complex in Kenya still hosts more than 200 000 people, mostly Somalis. Dimming prospects of lasting solutions amid ongoing insecurity in Somalia, as well as and ever-shrinking resettlement slots have locked Dadaab’s residents into a life as long-term refugees. DW's Melanie Cura Daball met with one man who was born in Dabaab and now has a family of his own.
