A headlight that is yellow or oxidized certainly does not look good. More importantly though, yellow headlights are a safety concern since the light output is much lower. By restoring your headlights to that like-new appearance again you will have maximum light output.

When you go to the store headlight restoration kits can be broken down into a couple of categories. For those headlights that show signs of early oxidation like yellowing and hazing, all you really need is a hand applied solution. Stepping up to a heavy-duty kit is for heavily oxidized lights.

The first step is to wipe the headlight clean removing any dirt or grime. The second step is masking off the headlight with tape in order to protect the surround body panels. Next, take the polishing pad and attach to a corded drill. Take the polish and add to the pad. Begin polishing and repeat the process a few times until the headlight is perfectly clear. In a short amount of time the headlight looks fantastic. The final step is adding a coating of protectant.
