Wheel cleaners come in a variety of options ranging from the most aggressive type that is designed specifically for chrome wheels, to a product that is designed for all alloy wheels, to a special product for aftermarket aluminum or anodized wheels that is less aggressive.
When using these cleaners it is good to have a variety of wheel brushes to help clean the alloys as well. These brushes can get into the inner part of the wheel and agitate any brake dust.
Tip #1 -- Spray liberally from the bottom of the wheel up
Tip #2 -- Use a brush to agitate any dirt or brake dust
Tip #3 -- Work one wheel at a time
