Most sects of Christianity are opposed to divorce to some degree. Stricter traditions forbid it in all but the most extreme situations, while other groups are more liberal. However, to understand Christian stances on divorce, one must learn what the Bible itself has to say about the subject. Unsurprisingly, since the Bible is a group of books written in different regions, centuries, and cultures, there isn't perfect harmony in all of the scriptures. However, the main thrust of the Bible's message(s) on divorce tend to be stricter than the way we think today, particularly when it comes to the rights of women.
