Today, we’re talking Convertibles, starting with the MINI Superleggara Vision. Superleggara means “super light” in Italian, but in this case, I think it should mean “super incredible.” I’d love for this adorable open-top, two seat roadster to make its way to production, but for now, let’s admire the collaborative design between MINI and Touring Superleggara, the design and coach building house in Milan.
This convertible concept by Bentley is downright opulent, and undeniably beautiful in true Bentley fashion. We love the liquid metal bonnet and the Sequin Blue exterior. Bentley says this was a custom order request from a woman who had a similar color blue sequin dress. Oh, and it’s got 530 horses under the hood. Not too shabby.
The BMW 2-Series drops its top next year in the 228i and the M235i, to much applause. From an aesthetic point of view, this is exactly what you’d expect from BMW. Starting at $39,000 give or take, it boasts 240 horsepower with claims of 0 to 60 times in the 5.7 second range. This is a great looking convertible.
We fell in love with the Jaguar F-Type when it first came out, and we’re in love with it even more now that it’s available with AWD, which is standard on the R models. The convertible and coupe sit slightly higher than its predecessor, with a revamped hood, new front vents, and body color side sills. The F Type R Convertible owns the road with 550 horses under the hood.
Love the new Porsche 911 Carrera GTS, with 430 horses and 325 lb-ft of torque under its belt. On the outside, this is the epitome of design evolution over the last 50 years. It boasts a wider stance (I think the wider stance suits it just fine) but it’s still a 911 no matter how you slice it. The GTS Convertible definitely turns heads. It turned mine.
This is Michelle Naranjo with Autobytel and that’s your Fab Five Convertibles of the 2014 LA Auto Show.
