Mina Jaf describes her experience in Brussels, Belgium through the European Voluntary Service (EVS), an Erasmus+ programme. Mina is an Iraqi-Kurdish/Danish volunteer in the association Vluchtelingenwerk, which gives the chance to people to help asylum seekers and refugees by doing simple things. In her EVS, she not only deals with the planning of volunteer teams in charge of the asylum seekers, but also manages a team of 20 people daily. Through her experience, she has gained tremendous experience by being at the NGO’s office and onsite with refugees. This EVS experience has allowed her to develop her own skills, such as languages, management, leadership, and coordination. For Vluchtelingenwerk, the experience has been so positive that they submitted a new request for another volunteer.
