Based on her own experience of caring for familyelders, Elaine K. Sanchez developed a passion
for helping people cope with the emotional stress of caregiving. She is the author of "Letters from
Madelyn, Chronicles of a Caregiver" and co-founder of CaregiverHelp.com, an online, video-based caregiver support program. She frequently speaks at healthcare and caregiving conferences across the country. Before moving to Salem in 1998, Elaine worked as a sales manager for network television affiliates in Colorado and New Mexico. She has served on numerous professional and nonprofit boards including The Historic Elsinore Theatre and Salem's Riverfront Carousel. Other books include "How Francis Got His Wink," "The General's Secret," and "Beautiful America's Salem." She is also a regular contributor to a variety of caregiver magazines and blogs. Elaine's husband Alex, who just recently retired from Oregon State University, is the co-founder of CaregiverHelp.com. Together they have eight children,
nine grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
