Brynmore Williams is a filmmaker who was first inspired by a non-visual medium: radio. As a boy in Barbados, stories piped over an old wooden speaker mesmerized him, and he took an interest in how they could imbue a single word with layers of meaning. As a filmmaker, he took an interest in what he calls "Phoenix moments" - those fleeting experiences that, in a flash, change you forever. At TEDxSomerville, Williams recounts how his own Phoenix moment led him to both beekeeping, and new ways of making films.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
