EPISODE SYNOPSIS:
Today things get suave and sensitive on Complete Control, as The Swellers and Dustin Ybarra join the set to talk about their start in show business and learning knife-disarming techniques from Matt Damon.
Then Xavier Rudd joins us and we discuss environmentalism and inspiration before he performs acoustically to close us out on a dreamy note. Enjoy!
GUEST BIO:
Xavier Rudd is an Australian singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He was born in 1978 and grew up in Torquay, Victoria. He attended St. Joseph's College, Geelong.
He has developed a strong reputation for playing live performances at musical festivals and concerts in Australia North America and throughout Europe. His following is particularly strong in Australia and in Canada, where he has recorded several albums.
Many of Rudd's songs incorporate socially conscious themes, such as environmentalism and the rights of Aboriginal peoples. In addition to playing the yidaki in many of his songs, he has also included both Australian and Canadian Aboriginal vocals in some of his songs.
Dustin Ybarra is making a name for himself at every comedy club he appears. Growing up in Dallas, Texas he realized he was put on this earth for one reason, to make people laugh and kick ass at video games. However his x box broke in the summer of 2003 so he decided to do stand up comedy. Dustin has been seen on Prison Break, Friday Night Lights, and is the Winner of The Rza's Wu Tang Chess Rap Challenge. From Push up Pops to Street Fighter Dustin will cover everything an audience needs to know about the single/nerd/thug life.
The Swellers is an American punk band from Flint, Michigan. Its music draws influence from melodic punk rock bands as well as alternative and indie rock from the 90s.
