Step-By-Step "Law Mai Kai" Secret Revealed In Jenjarom !
Once again  Manaweblife takes viewers to another interesting food haunt in the quaint  and serene town of Jenjarom ! You have probably seen the Manaweblife video on Chinese Rojak and Pan Mee. ( If you have not, check them out soon ! ) Now here's it's another local favourite : the very familiar Law Mai Kai or glutinous rice with chicken literally. The stall owner Mr Hoon has been experimenting with various mixture and styles of preparation and have since found a special recipe that does not follow the conventional preparation method and have garnered  many fans. He has been serving this since 1980, some 37 years ! Take a look at this video that shows you a  step-by-step preparation. In fact the glutinous rice is first soaked for 2-3 hours before it is pan fried with a mix of sauces and garnishing. This 30 minutes of ''frying" brings out a perfectly rich and marinated mix. Then it is put into bowls filled with chicken and meat. Then into the steamer for up to 1.5 hours of steaming. So it seems the Law Mai Kai that we usually find at ‘tim sum’ stalls have actually gone through a long and tedious preparation process. Mr Hoon's stall starts at 3.30pm and by 8pm the stock is finished. His popularity attracts customers from far and near  and most prefer to come here to get freshly steamed Law Mai Kai straight from the kitchen.
