In her professional and personal life, Betsy is committed to building the community in which she wants to live. Betsy is an English instrucktor and Director of Composition at Spokane Community College, focusing her teaching on multicultural literature, information literacy, and developmental writing. As an active volunteer, she is an advocate for GLBTQ youth and young adults and is a leader in bicycle advocacy, with a passion for supporting emerging female cyclists and hesitant bike commuters.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
