Germany's chancellor has told the World Economic Forum that global institutions need to be reformed, in order to avoid what she called "the fragmentation of the multilateral world". Angela Merkel told the meeting of political and business leaders in Davos, Switzerland that institutions like the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund must be ready to compromise - but not be downgraded.
