US President Donald Trump announced from the White House Rose Garden that he had reached a temporary deal with Congressional leaders to reopen the government, ending the longest shutdown in US history, which came after Congressional Democrats refused to back down on Trump's demands for funding of a wall along the US border with Mexico. The announcement came on the heels of news that Special Counsel Robert Mueller had indicted longtime Trump ally Roger Sone, who faces charges of obstruction of justice, witness tampering and making false statements. Stone was an advisor to Trump during the 2016 campaign and has been closely linked with the Wikileaks release of Hillary Clinton's emails.
