Mid-size shoppers who want to enjoy, not dread their daily commute, as this four-door family car proves that a mediocre driving experience is a crutch and not a requirement for inexpensive sedans. We also love the Mazda6's frugal 184 horsepower, 2.5-liter Skyactiv engine, which combines with the optional i-Eloop energy storage system to returns 32-mpg in combined driving - and how many other cars in its class offer the option of a six-speed manual transmission?
Runners up for Autobytel Sedan of the Year were the Hyundai Sonata and the Honda Accord. Both excellent contenders.
