The Yaris is the smallest and least expensive car that Toyota sells here in the U.S. Do you get good value for money if you buy a Toyota Yaris? Well when stacked up against the competition maybe. One thing you can be sure of is that the build quality and reliability is there since this is a Toyota Product. The Yaris has 12 different trim models with a base price as low as $14,430. The SE model with the manual transmission tested here costs $16,540.

Under the hood is a 1.5 liter 4-cylinder that makes 106 horsepower and 103 lb-ft. of torque. You get either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission, both of which seem a decade behind the times. The fuel economy estimates are good at 30 MPG in the city and 37 MPG on the highway.

The Yaris only comes as a hatchback for the 2014 model year. This compact small car is lacking in rear cargo storage room. The backseat however is not too shabby when it comes to space. This being an entry level car, the interior materials are not going to be anything special. But surprisingly the Yaris is pretty nice.

The Nissan Versa has more interior room, the Chevy Spark is more fun to drive, and the Mitsubishi Mirage gets better fuel economy. All these cars also cost less than the Yaris. But you can bank on Toyota reliability and build quality.
