WILL vs BE GOING TO: Differences between Will and Be going to English Grammar! /WillとBe going toの違い。

In today’s English lesson you will learn how to talk about the future in English using will vs be going to. You will also review how to make sentences using Will or Be going to, as well as learning the differences between these two future tenses in English.

First let’s review when to use will:

Will:(Subject + Will + Base Verb + Object.) I will eat lots of sushi!
1) Future Fact: Tomorrow will be Tuesday.
2) Offers: I will pay for dinner. I’ll help you.
3)Promises: I will love you forever. I won’t eat too much sushi.
4)Threats: I will eat you! You won’t forget this!
5)Future predictions based on opinions and thoughts: I think you will enjoy the robots and the sushi.
6)Future plans made at the moment/ while speaking: I will order more sushi.


Next, let’s review when to use ‘be’ going to:

Be going to:
(Subject + ‘Be’ verb + Going to + Base verb + Object.)
1) Future Facts: A robot is going to take us to our table.
2)Future predictions based on something you see now / Future guess due to what you see now: I think the robot is going to bring us our food. Be careful, your drink is going to spill.
3) Future already decided plans with details / Future previously made plans: I am going to have dinner at a robot sushi restaurant.

では,はじめにwillを使う時をみてみましょう:
(主語➕Will➕動詞の原形➕目的語)
1) 未来の事実: 明日は火曜日です。
2) 申し出: 夕食代 私が,払う。貴方を手伝う。
3)約束: 貴方を永遠に愛する。寿司を沢山食べ過ぎない。
4)脅迫: 貴方を食べるぞ。これを忘れるな。
5)意見や考えに基づく未来の予言:
貴方がロボットや寿司を楽しむと思う。
6)話している今作った未来の計画:私は,寿司をもっと注文する。

次に,be going toを使う時を みてみましょう
(主語➕Be動詞➕Going to ➕動詞の原形➕目的語)
1) 未来の事実: ロボットは,私達をテーブルに連れていく。
2) 貴方が今見ている何かを基にした未来の予言/貴方が今見ている事からの未来の推測
ロボットが私達に食べ物を持ってくるだろう。注意して。飲み物をこぼさないように。
3) 詳細まで既に決まっている未来の計画/前に作った未来の計画:
ロボット寿司レストランで夕食を食べるだろう。
