What's in a name?:Linda MENIKU at TEDxTirana

For Linda Mëniku, naming practices are both a part of social perception and also creators of these perceptions. The Albanians, have a very strong ethnic consciousness and are particularly sensitive to the ethnic symbols of their identity. So, what's in the Albanian names? In her talk, Lind will explore in depth the Albanian personal names as the evidence of the past and the present.
Linda, is a lecturer in the department of linguistics at the University of Tirana where she specializes in discourse analysis, text linguistics, Albanian as a foreign language, and media discourse. Aside from being the author of several books she is also the vice-president of Albanian Fulbright Alumni Association and the Head Representative of the American Councils for International Education.
