Promisses: Catherine Bohne at TEDxTirana

Looking back, it seems clear that Catherine Bohne's life has been shaped by decisions in which she chose to leap forward into the unknown. And yet, the answer was not in the chaos of unknowns, but in what she has not been willing to chance. Or rather, since all is chance, what she is most proud of having struggled to rescue from the often swilling confusion - the clear beacons in the stream:The children she has known.
Catherine was brought up by two Literature professors to love books and scholarship. At 16 she won a place at the Waterford Kamhlaba United World College of SouthernAfrica, and then went on to study biology in University back in the States. After knocking around a bit, she settled in Brooklyn where she took over ownership of the Community Bookstore of Park Slope. After almost 10 years, she went on holiday to Albania, and found a new home in the Valbona Valley where she is working to develop local tourism in summer, marking and mapping trails, helping with environmental research and working with the children of the valley in winter.
