Deep in the woods of northeastern Poland, in the Srokowo Forest District, sits the ruins of Adolf Hitler's Wolfsschanze, aka the Wolf's Lair. Today, the site sees hundreds of thousands of visitors per year. From 1941 to 1945, Hitler spent more than 800 days in the secret, highly fortified command post that served as Germany's military headquarters for the Eastern Front. From within the Wolf's Lair, Hitler and his generals devised the military strategies utilized for the invasion of eastern Europe, as well as plans for the construction of his death camps.
