Video Games and the Future: Dr. Richard Lamb at TEDxWSU 2014

Twenty-five percent of high school student's fail out of high school and 1 in 3 older adults die from dementia and related diseases. An answer to both of these problems lies in the play and design of video games. Video games offer an affordable and engaging means to educate the current and future students and provide a means to potential identify the onset of dementia. This talk will outline the use of video games as a tool for educators and medical personal to address the pressing issues of the need for increased individualized instruction for all students and diagnosis of debilitating diseases.

Bio- Richard Lamb came to Washington State University after attending graduate school at George Mason University where he studies Science Education and Educational Measurement. He has taught for eight years as a science teacher, teaching Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, and Physical Science Dr. Lamb is affiliated the Department of Teaching and Learning and teaches course in Elementary Science Education Methods and Quantitative Research Methods. and Learning, he hopes to bridge the key components of assessment and effective instruction supporting the educational pipeline.

At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
