March is Women's History Month! Today, we are following Dr. Amanda Salb, the only resident veterinary at Lilongwe Wildlife Rescue Trust in Malawi, Africa to rescue an elephant calf tangled in a poacher’s wire snare.

The team at the Lilongwe Wildlife Trust in Southeast Africa is dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating injured and orphaned animals, ensuring they get back into the wild where they belong. Malawi is one of the poorest countries in Africa and resources are scarce, so the team has to make do and improvise. Power cuts are common, the rainy season inundates the center, but work must go on.
