A legend of rock and roll, Tom Petty formed his band Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers shortly after his stint with a group called Mudcrutch failed to gain a following. Their first album was released in 1976, and it marked the beginning of an incredible career for the musician. Not only did his band put out 13 studio albums, but he had three of his own solo albums. Petty was truly a rock star to the very end. He sadly died shortly after going on tour for his band’s 40th anniversary. But how exactly did it happen?
