On February 3, 1959, three of the country’s most popular musicians boarded a small plane and set out toward Moorhead, Minnesota. Shortly after takeoff, the plane crashed into a cornfield outside of Clear Lake, Iowa. The pilot, along with The Big Bopper, Buddy Holly, and Richie Valens, all died in the accident.
