For folks of real authentic Hakka-style traditional soup this video will surely surprise them. It unveals a decade old stall at a lane near Kota Raya bus terminal in the heart of Kuala Lumpur operated by Mr Cheong. In the video he talks about his ingredients and demonstrate how the special soup is tediously made authentically. In his hands is a 28-year old stirring stick made from a guava tree trunk. The mixing bowl is unique too, with a black inside filled with grinding grooves.He shows his stock of fresh herbs(basil, laksa leaf, daun kesum) and beans and sesame seeds for the day's sale and it takes him about 4 hours to prepare just the soup. Mr Cheong also add his special selection of medicinal herds for an additional healing boost.This unique green coloured soup has been known to reduce blood pressure, improves digestion, improves complexion with its mix of fibres, vitamins and enzymes. No wonder it's nickname is called thunder soup. Why he is doing this? His passion to serve a good soup that is truly authentically prepared.Have a go at it, even though you are not Hakka!
