TARIAN PELANDUK
Tarian Pelanduk or Mousedeer Dance comes from Bentung Hill, Kuala Lipis, Pahang. It depicts the atmosphere associated with mousedeer hunting. The hunters use the leaves called daun terap to cast a spell on the mousedeer, luring it to the hunters' trap. Mousedeers affected by the spell are tricked into a state of drunkenness until they are successfully trapped by the hunters. The performance therefore centres around the actions of the hunters and the mousedeer in a surreal display of adversarial relationships made graceful by the art itself.
