The party of Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez is expected to get the most votes, but may not garner enough support to form a government. The election is marked by the importance of smaller parties, and in particular by the rise of the far-right movement Vox, which opposes multiculturalism and has threatened to end self rule for regions like Catalonia.
