This song is called "The Way My Heart Beats". It was written and composed by the youth leaders in our program. They taught the song to the children during the 2013 summer camp organized by WE-ACTx For Hope.
Rwanda Youth Music started in 2012.
The project trains youth to become music workshops leaders to hundreds of children in Rwanda. The youth leaders meet weekly at the Kigali Music School, where they receive coaching from music teachers, practice their skills, write songs, and prepare their workshops together. Every Saturday and Sunday, the youths give music workshops to hundreds of HIV-positive children, as part of WE-ACTx for Hope Youth Program.
Twice a month, they travel to different community centers in and around Kigali, where they work with children and youth affected by HIV/AIDS. These outreach days are coordinated with CHABHA. Some of the youth leaders were also trained in management skills, giving them the tools and responsibilities to coordinate many elements of the training program and the outreach days.
