If you are in search of the famed and highly prized "soon hock", or ikan ketutu, just take a 40 minutes drive to the Pahang-Selangor border town called Kampung Bukit Tinggi, Bentong! Here is a quaint village that welcomes people from all over who are heading up to Genting Highlands or the east coast. You will find restaurants that are either under huge canopy or in open air right next to the lush rainforests with untouched sky high trees. More importantly to fans of this fresh water delicacy there are never short of supply! True fans know that "soon hock" is seldom kept in stock by restaurants in the big cities because of demand and supply uncertainties. Here you will not be disappointed. You can request to cook it the way you like and the price is comparatively lower than in the city. The meat of the "soon hock" is smooth, soft and irresistible! Of course it's an experience you will cherish ! Besides this wondrous fish there are many dishes, seafood and non-seafood, that you will love and enjoy too. All done fast and in good old home cooking kampong style. Besides there are lots of interesting street stalls in this village too. You can find all kinds of fresh farm produce and of course the famous Bentong ginger.
Imagine, it's easier getting here than finding a place to park and eat in the city! What are you waiting for?
