Positano, often referred to as "the pearl of the Amalfi Coast" or the "vertical city," is a picturesque cliffside village situated along the southern coast of Italy. Historically, it served as a prosperous market port for the Amalfi Republic from the 15th to the 17th century. While facing economic challenges in the mid-nineteenth century, with over half the population emigrating, primarily to America, Positano rebounded in the 1950s as it transformed from a modest fishing village into a popular tourist destination. John Steinbeck's essay in May 1953 contributed to the town's burgeoning popularity, marking the onset of its growth in the tourism industry.
Our guided walking tour is about 2.8 miles (4.5 km) long and covers most attractions and historic sites of Positano.
