We recorded this 4k ultra hd video during our trip to Amalfi, Italy on October 2021.
Amalfi is a town in a dramatic natural setting below steep cliffs on Italy’s southwest coast. It is the main town of the coast on which it is located, named Costiera Amalfitana (Amalfi Coast), and is today one of the most famous tourist destinations in the world. For its history, monuments and natural setting, Amalfi is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
This remarkably scenic town boasts narrow alleyways that wind through the city's center and up the slopes, connecting the sea to the mountains. A trip to Amalfi rewards visitors with a peek into the region's lemon cultivation and handmade paper operations.
Amalfi was one of the first Italian cities to emerge from the so-called "dark ages" after the fall of the Roman Empire. It was the first of the Four Maritime Republics of Italy, including Genoa, Pisa, and Venice, and from 839 to around 1200 had the monopoly of trade with the East.At its peak, the population base of Amalfi was 80,000 people, until it fell to an invasion by both Norman and Pisa forces, followed by a storm and earthquake in 1343.Today, Amalfi is home to approximately 5,000 full-time residents.
Our guided walking tour is about 3.1 miles (5 km) long and covers most attractions and historic sites of Amalfi.
