Pope Francis has held a public mass in Mozambique on the first leg of a trip through southern Africa. He praised the country's new peace deal and called for unity, meeting with the country's president and different religious groups. The pontiff also offered his solidarity to the victims of two cyclones, which devastated parts of the country earlier this year. The Pope is due to head next to the island nation of Madagascar, which is suffering from the effects of deforestation. The last leg of his tour will take him to Mauritius. Climate and peace building efforts will be in focus throughout the visit, which is the pope's fourth to Africa.
