Poetry Within Education - A Helping Hand : Anthony Anaxagorou at TEDxHolborn

Poet, writer and educator Anthony Anaxagorou speaks about his experiences of teaching poetry to school students who are disengaged from English and poetry. Many of the groups he has worked with over the years consist of young people with behavioural difficulties, low self-esteem and confidence issues. He will explain how poetry can be used as a tool to combat a range of problems from mental health to fear of speaking in public and why more schools should look to make poetry a permanent fixture on the academic timetable.

Anthony Anaxagorou is a poet, writer and educator who has published 8 collections of poetry and is currently working on a debut collection of short-stories that will be published by Jacaranda Books later this year. His work has been studied at universities in the UK, US and Australia as well as being translated into Spanish, Japanese and French.
