#PlanHealth #PlanHealth2020
Healthy plants are fundamental to a healthy environment, our enjoyment of nature, sustainable agriculture and food security. EU rules on plant health contribute to sustainable agricultural and horticultural production as well as the protection of public and private green spaces, forests and the natural landscape. They also aim to ensure safe trade, as well as to mitigate the impacts of climate change on the health of our crops. Under the EU Plant Health law, people travelling to the EU from third countries cannot introduce any plant or plant material into the EU unless it is accompanied by an official certificate from the plant health authority in its country of origin. The only exception to this rule are bananas, coconuts, dates, pineapples, and durians, as these fruit do not pose a risk.
