Close your eyes and take a snapshot of the typical consumer paying for the goods and services today. Now, mirror that image with that same scenario in the future. Into this futuresque portrait, paint in a world where perpetrators of fraud and theft are unable to penetrate the technology and if they try, they cannot hide, placing the power back in the hands of the people who work to achieve the "American Dream." In merging those two scenarios you have realized the reality of today, at least in the United States. Socio and economic constraints do not enable this to be the case worldwide. Will the adoption of this embedded security standard become a determining factor in whether parties are able to continue to conduct international commerce? Let's say this, the race is on, and although the United States was slow to adopt the technology, they are now leading the pack.

Wendy Schofield set out in 2007 to find solutions to the many issues facing not only consumers and merchants, but those individuals who are independently working in the U.S. payment industry. Her focus was to personify democracy in the financial world by create payment solutions that not only gave power back to the individuals working in the world of payment solutions as independent business owners, but by creating strength in the consumer position, as the individuals who drive the economic success in our communities. She gave them security in electronic payments in a fashion to take the power away from the criminal minds.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
