Oh Canada! The True North strong and free! Canada is a great country and has a pretty cool national anthem. A national anthem is a song that represents a country. Canada’s national anthem is called, ‘Oh Canada’! In today’s English lesson you will learn some useful English vocabulary and learn about Oh Canada. In addition, you will learn the lyrics to the song during an activity to test your English listening skills.

First, you will learn a brief history about Canada’s national anthem. As you listen to the information about ‘Oh Canada’, some vocabulary you will learn in this English lesson includes:

After learning new English vocabulary as you learn about Canada’s national anthem, you will then get the opportunity to test your English listening skills with Oh Canada. The lyrics to Oh Canada will appear on the screen with 15 words missing. You will listen to Canada’s national anthem twice and try and catch all 15 of the missing words. At the end we will check the answers together and you can even sing along to Oh Canada with me if you want.
