Margaret Stone has worked as for Washington County Library for 10 years. The past four have been as manager of the Wildwood Branch. Before Washington County, she worked in just about every kind of library — public, academic, law, business, and special — but her heart has always been with public libraries. Margaret received her master of library science degree from the University of Maryland. She lives in Woodbury with her husband, Ken; one of their two daughters; and the family dog, who dabbles in haiku poetry.

In her TEDxMahtomedi presentation, Margaret explores the important role public libraries play in our increasingly digital world.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
