Manaweblife records a magnificent and colourful display of Chinese influence with this picturesque video showcasing the shop frontage of old shop lots in the Chinatown enclave of Malacca. The frontages of these shops have huge calligraphic Chinese signage atop singularly painted wooden doors, with pop-up Chinese characters. These  shop signage are proud identities that mark the Chinese family name of the shop owners or occupants or their business. Some of these century old  signage are well kept and preserved as a living heritage of this historical town that once was the major port of call in the spice trade sea route around the Straits of Malacca. Indeed, you can see the blend of the old and new nowadays with the metal gates and padlocks that are interestingly 'working hand-in-hand' to do their jobs, for identity and security.
