Jaime Waydo currently works at Google[x], where she is a Systems Engineer on the Chauffeur self-driving car program. Before joining Google she was the Director of Engineering at Translucent Medical, where she helped transform the way physicians "see" inside patients during surgery. Much of her earlier career was spent at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA, where highlights included leading the rover mobility mechanical team for the Mars Science Laboratory mission. On this project she personally designed much of the mobility system for the Curiosity rover, enabling the rover to roam the Red Planet more widely than has ever been done before. Jaime grew up in Bozeman, Montana and earned her Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Montana State University in 2000. She completed her Master's degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at UCLA in 2006.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
