Linda Greenlaw shares with us some of the invaluable lessons that she learned during her fast-paced career as the only female sword fishing captain in the United States. After being featured in Sebastian Junger's "The Perfect Storm" she gained instant fame as the "woman who survived the storm." Linda Greenlaw provides us with fascinating accounts of her experiences as a female captain in a male-dominated field while teaching us what she believes to be the key to success in all aspects of life.

Linda Greenlaw is the US' only female sword fishing captain, and author of three New York Times bestselling books: The Hungry Ocean, The Lobster Chronicles, and All Fishermen are Liars. She is the winner of the 2003 U.S. Maritime Literature Award and the 2004 New England Book Award for nonfiction. Time Magazine called her Recipes from a Very Small Island, co-authored with her mother Martha Greenlaw, a "must-have cookbook." Greenlaw is featured on Discovery Channel's hit series Swords: Life on the Line.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
