Dr. Darrell Keith, Research Oceanographer for the Atlanta Ecology Division of the EPA explains the HICO (Hyperspectral Imager for the Coastal Ocean), which offers the EPA and the environmental monitoring community an unprecedented opportunity to observe changes in coastal and estuary water quality across a range of spatial scales not possible with field based monitoring. Water quality models are developed from HICO images taken aboard the International Space Station.
