Iran has seized the British tanker Stena Impero in the Strait of Hormuz. The ship was intercepted by Iranian vessels and forced to sail to a port in Iran. Iranian soldiers also briefly boarded a second British-owned tanker, the Mesdar, before allowing it to continue its journey. This is the latest in a series of incidents threatening shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, the export route for the bulk of oil from the Persian Gulf region. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said there is "no doubt" that a US warship brought down an Iranian drone on Thursday, even though Iran denies that it has lost any of its unmanned aircraft. Trump says the USS Boxer, patrolling the Strait of Hormuz, brought down the drone because it had flown too close to the warship.
