Not only does factory farming cause unimaginable suffering to animals, but it also affects the quality of our food and poses a real threat to human health. Factory farmed chickens are reared in industrial sheds without windows, and are forced to grow quickly. A bird that experiences fresh air and grown at a normal rate is expected to have 25% less fat than a factory farmed bird. More worryingly, factory farming conditions create a breeding ground for disease. This is why we need to find a better way of keeping farm animals and promoting safer food.
