Our problem was one that resonated with so many other schools, how do you reach a group of students that seem unreachable. We were one step from being shut down. We were failing 50% of our students and had absolutely no way to make a major investment. Many were even rooting against us "saying we could never make a difference with those students from there."

Greg Green is the principal at Clintondale High School near Detroit, Michigan, and his work has been profiled in Newsweek Magazine, the New York Times and PBS just to name a few. Green has leveraged technology to increase student achievement in the age of rigid curricula and a widespread fear of failure.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
