The highly infectious measles disease is on the rise around the world. Latest figures show measles killed 136,000 people globally in 2017. That's a significant spike in deaths compared to the year before. According to estimates, the measles vaccination has saved over 20 million people since the start of the millennium. But discredited claims linking vaccines to health problems have meant some parents are choosing not to vaccinate their children. The Philippines is a hotspot for rising measles cases. The country has seen one of the largest year-on-year increases in new infections.
