Germany's Ursula von der Leyen, candidate for President of the European Commission is going to adress the European Parliament this morning. She needs to secure a majority in a confirmation vote being held later today. But success is far from certain. Von der Leyen faces hostility from parliamentary groups, who say she was foisted on them by national leaders. So she's been on a charm offensive, making a raft of promises to win support.
