Ray Zahab, in addition to being an adventurer, writer, youth advocate and runner, dedicates his time as a volunteer with impossible2Possible, an organization that aims to inspire and educate youth through adventure learning, inclusion and participation in expeditions.
Ray and two friends, set out on an expedition to cross the Sahara Desert by foot. 111 days and 7,500 kms after leaving the coast of Senegal, Africa they completed their journey by stepping into the Red Sea. The expedition was projected in the documentary film 'Running The Sahara', produced by Matt Damon and directed by Academy Award winner James Moll. This epic expedition had the trio running an average of 70kms a day without a single day of rest, the begining of a lifelong journey of discovery. He claims it has been a journey that has taught him that some of the largest barriers to success are the ones we put upon ourselves. By breaking these down, we are all capable of achieving truly extraordinary things.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
