Hey guys Bill here. During the last couple of days you guys have bombarded me with questions about the creepy clown hysteria that seems to be sweeping across America.
I have to be honest with you, this is one of the craziest things I have seen in a long time. Schools are being closed, people are being arrested, and the number of sightings seem to be endless. Youtube and Facebook are filling up with pictures and videos and some people are really getting scared.
Now what most of you guys want to know if this whole killer clown thing is real or fake? Well I do have an answer for you, but before we reveal that, I think one of the most important things we need to do right now, is just take a big breath and try to put things into perspective.
With the help of Chewy Piranha researchers Aya Halabi and Eric Rivera, we we looked into history of all this and I think you will be surprised what we found.
The first reports of this current craze actually started in England in 2013. In the town of Northhampton, a local filmmaker and a few of his friends cooked up the idea of the creepy clown, scaring people by just standing around. They made a Facebook page, but the mystery only lasted about a month before the clown was identified.
From there, it spread to France where. in early 2014, gangs of teenagers took up the fad. But now, instead of just standing around and spooking people, these clowns started chasing people and scaring them. People started calling the police and saying they were attacked. The first arrests associated with the craze ensued, some of those arrested were as young as 14.
Not much later the creepy clown thing spread to an event in Spain. There were multiple sightings of a weird clown behaving "suspiciously" In this case they were more interested in getting famous on Facebook than anything else…
So, with something like this sweeping through Europe you know it wasn’t going to stay there for long. In summer of 2014 it landed in America. It first popped up in Chicago and then popped up around Bakersfield, California. Now fast forward to Oct 2016 and we have thousands of reports of creepy clowns popping up all over America just in time for Halloween.
So if you're asking yourself what is going on here, I think there is one thing you can be sure of. These characters are not the Boogeyman, or aliens, or anything like that. It's human beings dressing up in clown costumes and scaring people for a laugh.
They aren’t nothing but a big fat fake!
Now, Like Pokemon Go, some bad elements have used the craze to actually rob and hurt people, but if you look at the actual statistics, you're more likely to be in an automobile accident than hurt by a creepy clown.
What comes to mind is what former president franklin D roosevelt said a long time ago…
THE ONLY THING WE HAVE TO FEAR IS FEAR ITSELF
